About seven years ago, a small team of big-thinkers set out to make 3D modeling software that anyone could use.
Typing is a lousy way to draw. Building 3D models is tricky enough without having to think like a computer. Instead of making you input coordinates, SketchUp has an advanced guidance system of colors, lines and text hints that help you keep track of where you are and what you’re doing.
No software is an island. People use software from many different companies, and they expect it all to work together. You can use SketchUp with all your favorite programs.
Hunting for tool icons is a bad idea. When it comes to user interface design, less is definitely more. SketchUp has a minimum of tools that each do a multitude of things. This makes it easier to learn, easier to use and—most importantly—easier to remember how to use.
